NEW DELHI:
Apple has launched its latest smartphones --
iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The company unveiled the two smartphones at an event in
San Francisco on Wednesday (September 7). At the event, Apple also announced the launch dates of the latest version of its
mobile operating system iOS,
iOS 10,
smartwatch OS, Watch OS3; and its
desktop and laptop OS,
macOS Sierra.
The company announced that
iOS 10 will be available for download for all
iPhone and
iPad users (with compatible devices) from September 13.
The iOS10 will be available as a free over-the-air update for current
iPhone 5 and higher-generation iPhone models,
iPod touch 6th generation, iPad mini 2 and higher versions, and iPad 4th-generation and iPad Air and iPad Pro models.
The all-new
iOS 10 brings new productivity features, animations and stickers. The OS also has redesigned Maps, Photos, Apple Music and News apps and the Home app.
Apple released its latest desktop & laptop operating system at
WWDC in June this year. The company has now announced that the OS will be available for download starting September 20.
The MacOS brings improvements to
Siri and Photos app (which now comes with object recognition and new search features) and new Memories feature.
As for the
watchOS, the update to Apple's smartwatch OS -- watchOS 3 -- will go live on September 13. It comes with a major UI revammp and offers improvements on activity tracking and sharing front. The update will incorporate Instant launching of apps, new “Dock” to access favourite apps, and easy switching of watch faces with some new addition to watch face library.
The new Activity app comes with a 'ring interface'. The Breathe app on watchOS 3 reminds the user to do deep breathing exercise. The SoS app lets user contact the emergency number by just pressing the side button on the Apple Watch.
