Every second Wednesday at 11.05am, Echternach and neighbouring village residents are treated to a one-hour concert featuring the majestic tones of the basilica bells.

During lunchtime on Wednesday, a user sent a video to our colleagues from RTL.lu, capturing the melodious rendition of "Fighter" by Tali, played by Anna Kastrzycka, a Polish musician.

When contacted by RTL.lu, Kastrzycka shared her affinity for the song, expressing her delight over Luxembourg's advancement to the Eurovision final the night before.

"The carillon of the basilica belongs to the people who live here. That's why I play for them. For those who reside here and for the visitors," Kastrzycka emphasised. She highlighted the inclusive nature of the concert, where no admission ticket is required, ensuring that everyone gathered in the market square can partake in the musical experience.

Echternach's basilica is equipped with a carillon, an instrument played with both hands and feet. Kastrzycka explained that it takes years to learn the required technique and that "you can't just sit down and start playing."

The day preceding Europe Day, Echternach resonated with melodies from across the continent, featuring music from Latvia, Germany, the Netherlands, and culminating with Tali's empowering anthem, "Fighter."
