Nest series reimagines surveillance equipment in sculptural form

In Nest 11 and Nest 12, Jakub Geltner continues his ongoing Nest series, blurring the line between the industrial and the organic. The two new installations were presented at Cultuurcentrum De Steiger Menen in Belgium as part of the exhibition City Trip 2 – La Société du Spectacle, curated by Jonas Vansteenkiste.

The pieces, designed for a gallery setting, allow for controlled lighting and closer observation. The installations are composed of surveillance equipment and communication technologies, including cameras and antennas, assembled into curvilinear, spatially dynamic forms. Each element is positioned to create a continuous visual flow, producing an arrangement that references patterns found in natural growth systems.

Jakub Geltner clusters cameras into curving, organic structures

The design approach by artist Jakub Geltner prioritizes the transformation of standardized, industrial components into structures that challenge the distinction between mechanical and organic forms. Within the gallery, the works highlight the tension between surveillance infrastructure and aesthetic arrangement, situating technical hardware within a sculptural, site-responsive framework.
