The winners have been announced in Star Wine List of the Year Asia 2025, with the Thai capital nabbing half of the Gold Stars awarded to sommelier teams across the continent.
May 1, 2025 — A total of 65 restaurants and wine bars were shortlisted in 11 categories for Star Wine List of the Year Asia, spread across Greater China, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. Ultimately, the judges have awarded 12 Gold Stars (including joint winners in the Best By the Glass List category), with six of those going to Bangkok – the big winner of the competition.

Three of Bangkok’s Gold Stars have gone to the Michelin-starred Indian fine-dining restaurant Inddee (Best By the Glass List, Best Medium-Sized List and the overall prize of Grand Prix); the city’s other winners are Haoma (Best Short List and Sustainable Wine List) and Sühring (Best Austrian Wine List).
Three Gold Stars go to Macau (8 1/2 Otto e Mezzo Bombana Macau and Robuchon au Dôme), with more winners in Hong Kong, Singapore and Xiamen.
“Each and every jury member was impressed by how well crafted so many of the wine lists were,” says judge Stefan Neumann MS. “Many went beyond just lists – they were educational, engaging and fun to read.” He was joined on the jury panel by fellow sommeliers Stephen Wong MW, Reeze Choi and Salvatore Castano.
The Star Wine List of the Year competition recognises the greatest wine lists in the world – and the teams behind them. It is free to enter for all restaurants and wine bars in each specified region, with winners receiving a Gold Star listing on the Star Wine List website and app. Winners in the international categories automatically qualify for the Star Wine List of the Year International Final, to be held in Vienna on 16 June 2025.
