Bangladesh Approves Massive Development Plan for Upcoming Fiscal Year
(MENAFN) Bangladesh's top economic decision-making body has given the go-ahead for a 2.3 trillion taka (approximately $19 billion USD) Annual Development Program (ADP) for the fiscal year spanning July 2025 to June 2026.
This newly approved ADP represents a 6.58 percent increase compared to the revised ADP for the current fiscal year 2024-25 (June 2024-July 2025).
The approval occurred during a National Economic Council (NEC) meeting led by Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh's interim government and NEC Chairperson, on Sunday.
Following the meeting, Bangladeshi Planning Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud informed reporters that the 2.3 trillion taka ADP budget for the upcoming fiscal year will be financed by 1.44 trillion taka from domestic funds, with the remaining 860 billion taka expected as foreign project aid.
The development plan for the next fiscal year prioritizes the transport, communication, and power and energy sectors. It also emphasizes maximizing the effective use of public funds by preventing misuse.
The upcoming fiscal year's ADP includes a total of 1,143 projects slated for implementation. (Note: 1 U.S. dollar is equivalent to roughly 122 taka).
