A timely refresh: Michael Kors launches Runway smartwatch and new jewellery line

Michael Kors has redesigned its Runway timepiece as a smartwatch as part of an extension to its Access collection. The brand has also released a new Fall 2018 jewellery range.

The Runway smartwatch is available in three stainless steel platings and introduces Michael Kors’ first silicone strap. Its features include heart-rate tracking, swimproof functionality, payment methods, GPS and Google Assist on the Wrist.

Michael Kors says its new Runway smartwatch ensures its customers are “more connected than ever before”.

New digital dial designs connect to and show the wearer’s heart rate. Updates to the My Social app – a feature which allows users to showcase Facebook and Instagram photos on their watch dials – include Michael Kors-themed stickers.

The Runway touchscreen smartwatch is powered with Wear OS by Google and Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 and is compatible with iPhone and Android phones. It is available now in Michael Kors stores and from selected retailers.

Michael Kors Chairman and CEO John D. Idol said: “I’m excited about adding our signature Runway style to our already exceptional line-up of smartwatches made in collaboration with Google to feature the latest wearable technology and the Google Assistant.

“With the new features and benefits, Michael Kors Access smartwatches ensure that our customers can now be more connected than ever before.”

“Innovation in the wearables space”: Michael Kors introduces its Runway smartwatch.

Wear OS by Google Director of Engineering Miles Barr commented: “The last two generations of the Michael Kors Access collection have allowed users globally to express their personal style while staying in touch with the world around them.

“We’re thrilled to partner again on the new Runway smartwatch and support Michael Kors’ ongoing innovation in the wearables space”.

Inspired by the Mercer Lock: Michael Kors’ Fall 2018 collection reimagines the brand’s padlock charm.

The Fall 2018 jewellery collection features necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings in sterling silver, semi-precious stones and 14ct gold, rose gold and rhodium platings. The range was inspired by the Mercer Lock, a Michael Kors brand element which has its roots in Mercer Street, in New York City’s SoHo neighbourhood, and the site of Michael Kors’ first downtown store.

Mercer Link ‘reimagines’ the padlock charm as a chain link, Kors Color features gemstones in bracelets and necklaces and Custom Kors offers charms, necklaces, bracelets and rings with interchangeable elements.
